1. Who We Are

Racketeer is a commercial software product operated by its founder. Our contact email is hello@racketeer.io. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to the operator of the Racketeer software and website.

2. The Software (racketeer.io/app)

The Racketeer application is designed to be completely offline-first:

• All data you enter (sites, racks, devices, ports, connections) is stored in a local JSON file on your own machine or server.
• The application makes no outbound network requests during normal operation.
• License validation is performed locally using asymmetric cryptography — no internet connection is required.
• We have no visibility into what you document in Racketeer. We cannot access your data.

3. Website Visitors (racketeer.io)

When you visit our website, standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this information only for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis.

We may use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Plausible Analytics) that do not use cookies and do not track individuals across sites. No personally identifiable information is collected via analytics.

4. Information We Collect When You Purchase

When you buy a Racketeer license, we collect:

• Your email address — to send your license key and order confirmation.
• Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
• Company name (optional) — if provided in the order form, used for license personalisation only.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, who have their own privacy policy.

5. Waitlist / Early Access

If you sign up for the early access waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you when Racketeer becomes available for purchase or when trial licenses are issued. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send, or by emailing hello@racketeer.io.

Email list management is handled by Mailchimp. See Mailchimp's privacy policy for details of their data practices.

6. How We Use Your Information

• To deliver your license key after purchase.
• To send important product updates (new versions, security notices) — you may opt out at any time.
• To respond to support enquiries you initiate.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Data Retention

We retain order records (email address, plan, license key reference) for up to 7 years for accounting and legal compliance purposes. Waitlist email addresses are deleted within 30 days of your unsubscribe request.

8. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

If you are based in the UK or EU, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
• Object to processing or request restriction of processing.
• Lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you believe your rights have been breached.

9. Cookies

Our marketing website (racketeer.io) does not use tracking cookies. The Racketeer application itself uses no cookies — it uses in-memory session state only.

10. Security

We use HTTPS for all web traffic. Order and payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure. We apply reasonable security measures to protect any personal data we hold, though no internet transmission is completely secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use of Racketeer after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
